Hello,
My name is Markus, and I’m a 3D artist, a Maker, and an Illustrator.
I specialize in 3D modeling for characters, creatures, and props. I have excellent spatial understanding and a strong eye for detail. This has enabled me to efficiently work in multiple 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Blender, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Maya). I understand PBR shaders well in Blender and Maya, and my preferred texturing Software is Substance Painter. In addition, I am a painter and illustrator and enjoy combining 2D and 3D skillsets on my projects. Finally, I'm a fast learner, eager to learn new tools or Software, and I'll troubleshoot where necessary.
My Story
In 2010, I founded a window manufacturing company specializing in PVC carpentry. I have held the position of production manager and have grown with the company from its early stages as a startup to becoming a 30+ employee company and all the challenges that come with it. At the company, I manage the manufacturing process and lead a small technical team of architects specializing in making all the custom designs, that clients bring to the table, viable.
Over the years I began to learn AutoCAD from the architects I have worked with and found that I have a good understanding of technical drawings, how to interpret them into 3D, and previz these designs.
After becoming familiar with the design and manufacturing processes I began to teach myself SketchUp and Blender and used these programs to create anything that I needed for work, for the most part, small 3D printed or laser-cut pieces for personal creative projects. I designed custom furniture in 3D, refined the idea to fit my needs, and planned out the assembly and manufacturing process before executing. I love conceptualizing ideas, creating, and making things with my hands.
Over the years I have also been exploring several other creative hobbies. I enjoy model building, scrap-building, and kit-bashing, and I also paint my models with airbrushes. I delved into sculpting in polymer clay (Sculpey) and other materials like Monster Clay.
After almost 13 years working in a manufacturing company, I am following a new path that has opened up in front of me. I want to put all my skills to good use and want to create 3D art for edutainment, VFX, or animation and make fun, amazing, and cool things.
